Security of an Indian citizen

The news media has been crying joarse about the Delhi serial blasts showing scenes from the roadside and hospitals and government offices....
What we need to do is understand the implication of such blasts. Till a decade ago, militancy was faced only in J&K, but now it is a national phenomenon-Ayodhya, Akshardham, Delhi, Ahmedabad, Mumbai and the list continues. India is getting engulfed in the grip of Islamic terrorism. But what are we doing-reserving seats for the minorities in government institutions. A fool can also understand that the Jehad against Hindustan is to subjugate and control it and not merely to ensure what a minority rightly deserves. The rights and freedom of especially the minorities is wel guarded by the constitution and special bodies have been set up to ensure this. So claiming that Muslims are ill-treated (treated as secondary citizens is totally baseless.)

Today the situation is such that any Indian citizen cannot dare to venture out of house without thinking of the possibility of a bomb blast.
The other dimension of the security scenario is the Naxalite violence wihch has engulfed the heart of the Indian geographic territory. Everyday we have news reports of violence in Chhastisgard, Gadchirauli, Andhra, Jharkhand etc. The Indian state needs to ensure the safety od every citizen and the terrorists and the naxalites need to be dealt with severely and without any mercy.

On the contrary, what signals are we getting? Ceasefire with NAGA militants, unconditional talks with ULFA and Naxalites in Andhra.(The Naxalite problem is getting worse with the Maoists coming in.) Let alone this, Bangladesi rifles some office barer comes to New Delhi and accuses the hand of India behind the 493 bomb blasts that occured in Bangladesh recently. (Imagine, this country owes its esistence to India). India does nothing. There are repots of the Assam militants shifting base from Bhutan to Bangladesh and the ISI running dozeens of camps near the Indian border in Bangladesi territory. What is India doing about it? Bangladesh is neither a nuclear power nor can its army sustain an attack from India.

I didn't want to talk about this in this post, but then as I amin the mood for it...
I was reading a bit about the history of ASSAM. Today some 6 districts are Muslim majority and another 5-6 are on a verge of becoming one:with percentages of 35, 40, 49, 46 etc. During the partition, Jinnah demanded that Assam be a part of Pakistan. There has been mass migration of Bangladeshi Muslims in to Assam from the thirties.
There has been a statement by one Bangladeshi Prime minister that Bangladesh is economically viable only of Assam is clubbed with it. We need to wake up to these realities if well crafted, intentional plan to change the demography of India and usurp her territory by the Islamists.
The situatoin is becoming similar in West Bengal with the Muslim population in the border districts showing tremendous increase. Also if u are aware, Muslims constitute some 25-30 percent of Mumbai. rest of Maharastra just 8 percent.

Islamic Fundamentalism has been on the rise since the Iran had Khomeni at the helm of affairs, he showed the world what Religious Fundamentalism is all about. It is true that the tentacles of this fundamentals are spreading fast not only in India but throughout the world. It is interesting to know how this religion has been able to do it in a relatively short span of 1000 yrs. Looking at the current scenario, as i read it somewhere, many people are turning to Islamic Fundamentalism as a step towards changing the society in a dramatic manner. They feel it is the only way to go about. Hence, the rise in terrorism despite the global awareness and high security alerts throughout the globe. Other important aspect of Islamic Fundamentalism is the feeling. I feel Islam Divided where Hinduism United and Hinduism Divided where Islam United. Let me give you an example, in hinduism we have 33 crore gods and goddesses that is division of faith, whereas the islam maintains one God philosophy. Hinduism inspite of being so great practices, caste, subcaste and so on where as throughout Muslim Community there is a strong feeling of brotherhood. So Hinduism Unites, inspite of multiple faiths inspite of multiple divisions because it has the ability to accept faiths and accept divisions. And Islam unites under one god and one sense of brotherhood. If we were to attain that feeling of brotherhood and i mean strong feeling, then we cannot let any religion or faith harm our beliefs and existence. Other thing i always think because I have read little bit about the birth and rise of Islam, written by a foreign author, is it is badly messed up on the principles on which it was founded on. Let us understand the circumstances under which Islam came into existence, the time was of great middle east conflicts, conflicts of faiths, beliefs, ideologies and worthless battles and wars of blood. During this time of turmoil and anguish, Mohammad, The prophet of Islam, started having divine interventions, and in his dreams he got the messages of Lord. He started conveying them to fellow people and managed to end the turmoil and the conflict without any bloodshed (which was a great achievement at that time). Subsequently he saw that many men had been killed in battle and many women were raped, so he told his followers to take care of women by getting married to them, upto a limit of 4 and only if the previous wife/wives agree. So there came the idea of 4 wives, which is not applicable now, but distorted by the Fatwas and the misinterpretation of the Koran. Another thing is that the divine interventions were experienced by Mohammad alone and not his subsequent followers, so obviously they interpreted Koran or what Mohammad to their limited intelligence leading to further chaos and degradation. However, one thing I strongly would like to believe in is Lord Krishna is the only God with his incarnations as Jesus Christ as well as his divine interventions with Mohammad. I feel inspite of his repeated sayings in Bhagavad Gita that he is the only one God, the Supreme Being and all others were mere Demi Gods, we still continue to worship many gods and many faiths. So, maybe he thought of sending a incarnation in the form of JEsus Christ to tell the world that there is one Father, One God and he was a mere servant of the same. But Man's Faith was not to be moved so easily. So again in the form of Mohammad he tried to bring people under one faith, one belief of one God. Sadly, I feel sorry for the Muslim Community, inspite of having been found on such noble principles, it has been constantly degrading under the misrule of the Religious Heads, misinterpretation of the Holy book. However, I pray to god that irrespective of anything, the faith of man is towards one God be it Krishna, Christ or Allah, because all paths lead to Him. But never ever justify the wrong doings on His name. Because no matter what name, no matter what holy book one does have the right to take away what he cannot give and that is someone's life. There is no paradise and no heaven for such souls. They have to coming back to suffer what they owe.

Haridas, there are some very basic differences between a monolithic religion (Christianity, Jewism and Islam) and Hinduism. Though in Gita Krishna says I am the supreme he also says that wise people call it by different names: there is room for different forms of worship. Also, if u see the characteristics of different Gods: Brahma the creator, Shiva the destroyer, Vishnu the saviour etc and thus varied qualities are embedded into the different Gods.
What these monolithic religions do is divide humanity into believers and non-believers. (Hindu society not religion has degraded the caste into permanent bias). This division is dangerous as if u rape (kill) a Kafir its in the supreme service of ALLAH (this is mentioned in the Hadis ie traditions of the Mohammed-this book gives the time and context dimension to the Quaran) goto www.voi.org/books and read "Understanding Islam through Hadis: Religious faith or fanaticism" written by Ram Swarup. There is also instant death penalty for leaving the Muslim faith having once embraced it. The incentive to embrace Islam is that all your previous sins are pardoned. And as you have mentioned, that Mohammed brought peace: he waged many wars to achieve conversion of thousands.
About the 4 wife norm, you are right (one can have as many concubines of other faiths) but then why did Mohammed himself have some 81 wives?

Forget the previous paragraph (some facts which you may doubt the authenticity of) tell me: what the Prophet prophesized some 1000 years ago, can it hold right and true even today? Muslims go by the Books: Quaran and Hadis (what the prophet did during his life ie his biographical sketch). They believe that whatever is written in these two books is the right thing to do. The prophet might have right in allowing 4 wives at that time but is that right today? There are many more challenges today which were unforeseen at that time: what to do, how to tackle them?
The problem is with the mentality and philosophy of Islam and not with the human being called Muslim

I think Bhim, you missed the gist of the my comment. What i am trying to convey to you that degradation of the Islam Religion has been precisely due to the whims and fancies of the religious heads who had their will misintepret the things that were written in the holy books. The meanings were not supposed to be that or the implications were foreseen by ordinary men. Religion as such and the principles it was found on is not bad, it has degraded because of the involvement of large number of human beings in intepretation and subsequent chaotic thinking.
No Doubt there is considerable amount of clarity in Hinduism regarding our role in life, because of incarnations of Lords in various forms, to teach us and make us understand, what is our duty and responsibility at every stage of life. In Hinduism, the actions of the present sow the seeds of future and our next birth, and we believe that, and unconsiously work towards that.
Whereas in Islam, they think that paradise is achieved once he is dead on the name of religion or on dying on religious grounds (holy war / jehad) and stuff.
And lord krishna said one thing very specifically, through the worship of demigods, one may get temporary benefits like being able to go to heaven, but when that boons were over then he has to again take birth as a human being and go through all the births in order to again come into heaven. But if one choose Krishna, then he would be permanently freed from the ties of this material word. And hence He told to worship Him alone and let alone all other demigods because they would give only temporary benefits. Even though whatever we are worshipping directly or indirectly goes to the Supreme Being.
Anyways there are many points on which I think we can talk about the differences of Hinduism and Islam, but I think I have a ltd knowledge of both the religions, because inspite of being Hindu i dun know Sanskrit and I have not read the Real Vedas, the source of supreme knowledge of our religion niether have i read much about Islam, so i m sorry if i have misrepresented some facts or information. I pardon on the grounds of ignorance and limited knowledge on my part.

Above the pardoning that u desire is all incalled for as nobody here can claim immunity from ignorance except maybe bhute (he doesn't venture into things unknown). So u can say whatever u know and feel: the only thing is thatg we should be open to new facts and ideas and be willing to accept other's points of view.
As to the degradation u are talking about there are a lot of philosophical differences: Krishna had 1116 wives. Tomorrow (say 500yrs hence). All texts are changed and it is written that sice he had so many wives any male should also have.
But then not many Hindus will buy th eargument because in Hinduism, u are left to ur own free will what do u want to do whom do u choose as ur ideal: Shive, Ram Krishna etc.
But the Muslim tendency is to follow the Mullah (who interprets the holy texts for the ordinary.)

Sorry .. I read this post pretty late...but nevertheless i couldn't stop wondering one thing....

Prophet Mohammed had 81 wives???????????

No wonder ... they call him god!!!

Seriously....I feel that we need to do something about the minority thing....india is secular in nature... be here as Indians.. else get the F out...

Varun Rajkumar said...

Please. I did know about Lord Krishna...

but again ... a prophet having 81 wives????????

amey ashok kulkarni said...

Varun I can understand what u want to say from what words u use but....
Prophet Muhammed is no God he is just a messenger: not ALLAH; this clearly shows ur ignorance with the religion u are talking about.

The concept of secular India has been thrown onto u in a post independence scenario by Nehru and the leftists. There were many Hindu voices in the General assembly viz. K M Mumnshi(founder of Bhavan), Sardar Patel among others.

U talk about secular and liberal India and then tell me to fuck out: sorry but the smell of intolerance comes from ur words not mine.
Don't deny history and the Hindu character of the country.

Idiot... I seriously doubt ur ability to interpret things write...

I knew that the prophet is a messenger... was a a sane human being..
I seriously couldnot(and still cant imagine!!)a human being having 81 wives...
certainly something that sounded humorous to me... think of a guy managing 81 wives(and am wondering about his stamina as well...I personally prefer only one ... ASH)..

And unfortunately... I feel now as if I told the joke to a bunch of morons....who dont even know to laugh...

I am an Indian.. I know what the state of affairs in the country.
I am pretty clear as long of my views on this is concerned.

I have written it earlier and am writing it now...Stay in the country not as muslims... but as Indians.Minority... my ass...

The Bhagavad Gita, written thousands of years ago, enlightens us on all managerial techniques leading us towards a harmonious and blissful state of affairs in place of the conflict, tensions, poor productivity, absence of motivation and so on, common in most of Indian enterprises today – and probably in enterprises in many other countries.

The modern (Western) management concepts of vision, leadership, motivation, excellence in work, achieving goals, giving work meaning, decision making and planning, are all discussed in the Bhagavad Gita. There is one major difference. While Western management thought too often deals with problems at material, external and peripheral levels, the Bhagavad Gita tackles the issues from the grass roots level of human thinking. Once the basic thinking of man is improved, it will automatically enhance the quality of his actions and their results.

The management philosophy emanating from the West is based on the lure of materialism and on a perennial thirst for profit, irrespective of the quality of the means adopted to achieve that goal. This phenomenon has its source in the abundant wealth of the West and so 'management by materialism' has caught the fancy of all the countries the world over, India being no exception to this trend. My country, India, has been in the forefront in importing these ideas mainly because of its centuries old indoctrination by colonial rulers, which has inculcated in us a feeling that anything Western is good and anything Indian, is inferior.

The result is that, while huge funds have been invested in building temples of modem management education, no perceptible changes are visible in the improvement of the general quality of life - although the standards of living of a few has gone up. The same old struggles in almost all sectors of the economy, criminalization of institutions, social violence, exploitation and other vices are seen deep in the body politic.

One of the greatest contributions of India to the world is Holy Gita which
is considered to be one of the first revelations from God. The management
lessons in this holy book were brought in to light of the world by divine
Maharshi Mahesh Yogi , Sri Sri RaviShankar and Swami Bodhanandji, and the
spiritual philosophy by the great Adi Sankaracharya the greatest philosopher
of India and proud son of Kerala, and Sri. Srila Prabhupada Swami and
humanism by Mata Amritanandamayi Devi and Satya Sai Baba. Maharishi calls
the Bhagavad-Gita the essence of Vedic Literature and a complete guide to
practical life. It provides "all that is needed to raise the consciousness
of man to the highest possible level." Maharishi reveals the deep, universal
truths of life that speak to the needs and aspirations of everyone. Swami
Chinmayanandaji preached and educated the people and Swami Sandeep
Chaitanyaji continuing the mission by keeping this lantern burning always
knowing the wishes of the modern generations. Arjuna got mentally depressed
when he saw his relatives with whom he has to fight.( Mental health has
become a major international public health concern now). To motivate him the
Bhagavad Gita is preached in the battle field Kurukshetra by Lord Krishna to
Arjuna as a counseling to do his duty while multitudes of men stood by
waiting. It has got all the management tactics to achieve the mental
equilibrium and to overcome any crisis situation. The Bhagavad Gita can be
experienced as a powerful catalyst for transformation. Bhagavad gita means
song of the Spirit, song of the Lord. The Holy Gita has become a secret
driving force behind the unfoldment of one's life. In the days of doubt this
divine book will support all spiritual searches. This divine book will
contribute to self reflection, finer feeling and deepen one's inner process.
Then life in the world can become a real education—dynamic, full and
joyful—no matter what the circumstance. May the wisdom of loving
consciousness ever guide us on our journey? What makes the Holy Gita a
practical psychology of transformation is that it offers us the tools to
connect with our deepest intangible essence and we must learn to participate
in the battle of life with right knowledge?. It shows us the path to handle
the situation with equipoised mind irrespective of what comes our way and
reminds us time and again, that what the right action is.

The Holy Gita is the essence of the Vedas, Upanishads. It is a universal
scripture applicable to people of all temperaments and for all times. It is
a book with sublime thoughts and practical instructions on Yoga, Devotion,
Vedanta and Action. It is profound in thought and sublime in heights of
vision. It brings peace and solace to souls that are afflicted by the three
fires of mortal existence, namely, afflictions caused by one's own body
(disease etc), those caused by beings around one (e.g. wild animals, snakes
etc.), and those caused by the gods (natural disasters, earth-quakes, floods
etc).

Mind can be one's friend or enemy. Mind is the cause for both bondage and
liberation. The word mind is derived from man to think and the word man
derived from manu (sanskrit word for man).

"The Supreme Lord is situated in everyone's heart, O Arjuna, and is
directing the wanderings of all living entities, who are seated as on a
machine, made of the material energy."

There is no theory to be internalized and applied in this psychology.
Ancient practices spontaneously induce what each person needs as the
individual and the universal coincide. The work proceeds through
intellectual knowledge of the playing field (jnana yoga), emotional devotion
to the ideal (bhakti yoga) and right action that includes both feeling and
knowledge(karma yoga). With ongoing purification we approach wisdom. The
Bhagavad Gita is a message addressed to each and every human individual to
help him or her to solve the vexing problem of overcoming the present and
progressing towards a bright future. Within its eighteen chapters is
revealed a human drama. This is the experience of everyone in this world,
the drama of the ascent of man from a state of utter dejection, sorrow and
total breakdown and hopelessness to a state of perfect understanding,
clarity, renewed strength and triumph.

"Freed from attachment, fear and anger, absorbed in Me, and taking refuge in
Me, purified by the penance of knowledge, many have attained union with My
Being." (Gita 4:10)
